Steam Launch

Fancy Force and Jim Bonacci scheduled Happy Wheels for Steam on 21 September 2026 as app 4705510. That date is a store schedule, not a library unlock. The Steam edition is not released, not in your account, and not a thing you can buy today. The playable full game remains the free HTML5 client on Totaljerkface. If a thumbnail, a reseller, or a random video says otherwise, ignore it and re-check the store page.

This page lists what the Steam store actually discloses: ad-free play, platforms, language, controllers, community levels, Family Sharing, and the missing price. For a side-by-side of the two clients see Steam vs browser. For CPU, RAM, GPU, and disk numbers see system requirements. For pads see controller setup. Official URLs sit on the links hub. Browser patch numbers still live on the changelog.

The date, and what it does not mean

21 September 2026 is the scheduled Steam day. Until that morning, treat every feature below as a store listing, not as a hands-on review of a shipped build. Coming-soon pages can gain or lose checkboxes. Price can appear the week of launch. Deck verification can move. This wiki will not pretend the exe is already public.

Wishlist the app if you want Steam to mail you when the page leaves coming-soon. Wishlisting does not charge you. It also does not download the game. There is no demo package listed on the Steam app as of the store copy we are tracking.

What is supposed to change versus the browser

The browser game is free and shows ads. Steam’s own feature text is blunt: “No ads, I don’t like ads.” That is the clearest paid-client difference. You should still expect the same ragdoll sandbox: pick a character, try to cross a finish line or collect tokens, and open the level editor when you want to build.

Steam lists:

  • Single-player only. One human at a time. Extra ragdolls on a tandem bike or in a shopping cart are not a second player.
  • Level editor plus a Level Browser.
  • 5+ million user-made levels, with daily submissions.
  • Family Sharing.
  • Partial Controller Support, with Xbox controllers named. Keyboard remains the layout this wiki treats as canonical until a Steam-specific map is published. Read controller setup before you assume triggers map to eject.
  • English interface and English audio only. There is no store listing for other spoken or UI languages.

The HTML5 game on Totaljerkface is the historical full product. Demos on other websites are not a substitute for the editor, the account system, or the Level Browser. Steam is positioned as the ad-free desktop edition of that same sandbox, not as a sequel with a new campaign.

Community reports (not official Fancy Force posts) say the Steam build may wrap the JavaScript game in Chromium. If that report holds, local play might work offline while community levels still need internet. Phrase it that way until the shipped client proves otherwise. Do not quote it as a developer promise.

Price: not published

The Steam app is not free. The store has not published a price and has no packages yet. This wiki will not invent a dollar, euro, or regional number. If a third-party site prints a price before Fancy Force does, treat it as speculation.

When a price appears, it will belong on this page and on Steam vs browser, not in a guess on the changelog. Browser play stays free with ads regardless of whatever Steam charges.

Platforms: Windows, Linux, Deck Playable, no Mac

Steam lists Windows 10 64-bit and Linux with glibc 2.31 (Ubuntu 20.04 as the named baseline). macOS is not listed. Do not buy a Mac Mini expecting a native Steam build from this page.

Steam Deck is marked Playable, not Verified. Playable means Fancy Force or Valve expect it to run with possible tweaks: layout, glyphs, or a community profile. It is not a promise of a perfect handheld UI on day one. Plug in a keyboard the first hour if the on-screen controls fight you, then bind a pad using controller setup.

Minimum specs are the same shape on Windows and Linux: Intel Core i3 or AMD equivalent at 2.0 GHz, 4096 MB RAM, a GPU that can do WebGL / DirectX 11 (Intel HD 4000 or better), and 1024 MB of storage. Windows also lists DirectX 11. Full tables live on system requirements. The browser client can run on weaker machines because it is still a tab; that is not a guarantee the Steam wrapper will.

Accounts, Discord, and support

Totaljerkface accounts are described as shared or integrated with Steam. The intent is that your browser profile, saved editor work, and identity carry over instead of forcing a blank Steam-only user. Wait for the in-game prompt after 21 September 2026 before you create a second Totaljerkface login “just in case”.

Player support is concentrated on the Happy Wheels Discord. Store refunds, family-share slots, and Deck bugs still go through Steam’s own help. This wiki is unofficial; we are not Fancy Force and we cannot reset your account.

Five million levels and the Level Browser

The store highlights 5+ million user levels and a Level Browser that still takes daily submissions. That catalogue is the reason most people open Happy Wheels in 2026, not a short first-party campaign. Internet access is the practical requirement for browsing, rating, and grabbing new maps. Local copies of levels you already opened may be a different story if the Chromium-wrapper report is accurate; we will not pretend to have tested a build that is not public.

If you are new, finish a few featured browser levels with the getting started habits (lean, eject, tokens) so Steam’s Level Browser does not dump you into a meat-grinder as your first impression.

Age, tone, and what Steam will not add

Happy Wheels is satirical cartoon violence and dismemberment. Brazil 12, Germany 16. No sexual content. The Steam page does not list online sessions, extra human players, or a macOS SKU. Do not expect those to appear because a comment section asked.

What to do between now and 21 September 2026

  1. Keep playing the free browser build on Totaljerkface.
  2. Wishlist app 4705510 if you want a store ping.
  3. Measure your PC against system requirements. Linux users should check glibc 2.31.
  4. Decide whether you care about ads and pads; that comparison is Steam vs browser.
  5. Read the changelog so v1.98.x editor fixes are not a surprise if Steam wraps the same client.
  6. Keep the links hub bookmarked for the store URL and Discord.

On the morning of 21 September 2026, confirm the store left coming-soon, confirm a price exists, and only then treat Steam as a client you can install. Until that confirmation, the full game is still a browser tab.
