Happy Wheels Updates Hub
Browser patches, the 2020 HTML5 port, and the Steam edition scheduled for 21 September 2026.
Happy Wheels still ships updates in two very different channels. The free HTML5 browser game at Totaljerkface receives numbered patches that Jim Bonacci logs on the site. A paid Steam edition from Fancy Force (app 4705510) is scheduled for 21 September 2026 and is not out yet. This hub is the map between those tracks so you do not mix a live browser fix with a store page that is still in coming-soon state.
Use the Steam launch page for platforms, ads, accounts, controllers, and the unpublished price. Use the changelog for the v1.98.x notes that actually landed in the browser build. If you are deciding where to play today, jump to Steam vs browser and confirm hardware on system requirements. Brand-new players should start with getting started before chasing patch trivia.
What counts as an update here
An update on this wiki is a dated change to the playable game or a confirmed store-status change. Browser patches such as v1.98.4 (6 September 2026) belong on the changelog. The Steam release date belongs on the launch page until Fancy Force ships the build. Historical ports are listed so searchers do not confuse them with Steam:
- The original full game lived on Totaljerkface. Third-party sites have hosted demos; they are not the complete editor-and-browser product.
- A JavaScript / HTML5 port replaced the old Flash client on 28 December 2020. That is the browser game you can play now.
- An iOS edition shipped 20 August 2015 (Metacritic 73/100). An Android edition arrived 25 January 2020. IGN has listed Happy Wheels among Best Free Games in older roundups. Those mobile dates are not the Steam date.
Satirical cartoon violence and dismemberment are the tone of every build. Brazil rates the series 12 and Germany 16. There is no sexual content. Happy Wheels is single-player on browser and on the listed Steam features.
Browser track: Totaljerkface is still the live client
Until 21 September 2026, the full game you can actually run is the HTML5 client. It is free, it shows ads, and it still gets editor and physics fixes. The recent line is v1.98 through v1.98.4: native text input, WebGL2 crash fixes, wrecking-ball rope physics, large-level editor work, separate sound and music sliders, high-refresh efficiency, and circles with inner cutouts. Those notes are summarised with dates on the changelog.
If a user level starts misbehaving after a patch, check whether the author used a new shape, a new trigger display, or a texture that only behaves on WebGL2. Do not assume Steam will magically avoid the same physics; community reports say the Steam build may wrap the same JavaScript game in Chromium. Treat that as a community report, not an official Fancy Force architecture post.
Steam track: scheduled, not shipped
Fancy Force and Jim Bonacci scheduled Happy Wheels on Steam for 21 September 2026. The store lists Windows 10 64-bit and Linux (glibc 2.31 / Ubuntu 20.04), Steam Deck Playable (not Verified; handheld caveats live on the Deck Playable notes), English interface and audio only, partial controller support with Xbox controllers named, Family Sharing, a level editor, a Level Browser, daily user submissions, and 5+ million community levels. The Steam blurb calls out ad-free play with the line “No ads, I don’t like ads”. The product is not free (is_free false) and no price or packages have been published. There is no macOS build on the store page.
Wishlist the app if you want a store notification. Do not write the game as if it already sits in your library. On launch day, re-read Steam launch and the changelog in that order: date first, then whether a Steam build number even exists yet.
Totaljerkface accounts are described as shared or integrated with Steam, so a browser profile should not need to be rebuilt from zero. Confirm that in the in-game account UI after the Steam build unlocks. Support questions belong on the Happy Wheels Discord, not in a comment on a three-year-old video.
How to read this hub without mixing dates
- If you want to play today, use the browser and the getting started guide.
- If you want the ad-free Windows or Linux edition, read Steam launch and check system requirements.
- If a shape, slider, or editor tool looks new, read the changelog for v1.98.x.
- If you are choosing between clients, use Steam vs browser.
Browser patches can land on a Saturday in June and a Saturday in September without any Steam news. Steam news can change a store checkbox without a v1.98 bump. Keep the two calendars separate and you will not quote a cloud fix in Happy Green Hills as if it were a Steam day-one patch.
Bookmark this hub through 21 September 2026. The Totaljerkface log can still move, and only the Steam store can confirm price, packages, and the first Steam build number.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Happy Wheels questions.
Is Happy Wheels out on Steam yet?
No. Fancy Force scheduled the Steam edition (app 4705510) for 21 September 2026. It is still coming soon. Play the free HTML5 game on Totaljerkface until that date, and read the Steam launch page for platforms and the unpublished price.
Where are the latest browser patch notes?
Jim Bonacci logs them on Totaljerkface. This wiki copies the recent v1.98.x line on the changelog, including v1.98.4 on 6 September 2026 (cutout circles, trigger action display, banned words).
Will the browser game keep getting patches after Steam ships?
Nobody has published a stop date for Totaljerkface updates. Treat the browser log and the Steam store as separate feeds. Watch both if you play both clients.
Do I need a new account for Steam?
Fancy Force describes Totaljerkface accounts as shared or integrated with Steam. You should not have to rebuild a profile from scratch. Confirm the link in the client after 21 September 2026.
What is the newest numbered browser version?
v1.98.4, dated 6 September 2026, is the latest note summarised here. Earlier June–August 2026 fixes live on the changelog.
